In the late 1970 phonsavan become a new province of Xieng khouang capital. Former capital call muang khouan was destroy during vietnam war 32km from phonsavan. Phonsavan it’s located in paek district in the center of the plateau with the same name of plain of jars. The town enjoys present the temperature weathers all year round. November to February. The plain of jars become an UNESCO world heritage site on 10th July 2019.
